Saara Untracht-Oakner Subjectively Speaking • Feb 2 - Mar 2, 2019
Every day, ideas are transferred through various devices and forms of communication; one form of information is absorbed and interpreted by a person, transferred into a different medium and on and on. “Fake News” is everywhere, and the truth has become subjective. Using concepts from her performance background of learning and performing music by ear, and from her trained musicianship in reading western notation, Saara creates a flow of information filtered through various senses. A music piece becomes a transcription which becomes an interpretation, and this interpretation reforms into a new piece of music. The experience is then verbalized in the retelling of the experience to others.
